2021-12-31T07:09:43 --> 2021-12-31T08:10:18
A large polar crown prominence eruption at SW limb took place over multiple IRIS orbits with IRIS observation coverage started at about 4:00 UT on 2021-Dec-31 (New Years Eve :-) The prominence experienced a gradual/slow liftoff over many hours. This movie shows the very late stage of this eruption, during which the majority of the material has already erupted. In the very end, some material that failed to escape the Sun's gravitational pull returned to the Sun and fell as coronal rain. Note the curved trajectory of this falling material that indicates the magnetic field lines that the partially ionized prominence material is following.

2021-12-29T11:29:50 --> 2021-12-29T11:43:28
A minor flare/surge occurred in AR 12916, caught in SJI, but unfortunately not caught under the slit. This was a small flare in an otherwise quiet week with a low solar activity level.

Interesting activity is observed in AR 12933, in particular in the top right portion of the field of view, flows are observed, unfortunately not under the slit, and they have a peculiar appearance suggestive of plasmoids (?).\nVery similar to what observed several hours later in the same location of the AR:\nhttps://www.lmsal.com/hek/her?cmd=view-voevent&ivorn=ivo://helio-informatics.org/OT_IRIS_SG_C_II_PaolaTesta_20220127_215515
