SOT: HOP 73: Quiescent Prominence Structure and Dynamic
2008-10-02T11:07:52 to 2008-10-02T13:59:57
Science Goal: Quiescent Prominence Structure and Dynamics
Program: Ha 2WL core DG + CaH, half FOV 2x2 for prominences, 30sec, East
Target: Prominence
xcen=-720 ycen=-690
Instrument: SOT
HOP/JOP: 73
Description: This HOP seeks to further understand the structure and dynamics of QPs, and in particular the origin of the mysterious dark turbulent upflows and large bubble instabilities. Can we discern a thermal mechanism at work in these dynamics? Or are they caused, as the more classical explanation would have it, by magnetic field dynamics entraining the plasma in a low-?????? mode?
