SOTSP: SNIFS sounding rocket launch
2025-07-18T18:30:00 to 2025-07-18T19:02:00
Science Goal: Study small scale energy release in the transition region and chromosphere
Program: Fast map, 123"x123", 1-side CCD
Target: Active Region
xcen=261 ycen=-433
Instrument: SOTSP
HOP/JOP: 510
Description: SNIFS will target small scale energy release in the transition region and chromosphere. SNIFS is the first space-based integral field spectrograph. The science targets will be active network (spicules studies) and an active region (nanoflare or microflare studies, a larger flare if we are very lucky). SNIFS has two channels: our FOV for each of the single channels alone are 0.5 arcmin x 0.5 arcmin. These two channels are 1 arcmin away from each other (inner edges separation, not center-to-center) (so total FOV is about 120x30"). Cadence is 1s and we have three emission lines: Lyman Alpha 121nm, Si III (logt=4.9) and OV (logt=5.3).
