SOTSP: HOP 336 S Hemisphere
2018-09-10T14:00:00 to 2018-09-10T17:09:35
Science Goal: Cycle 25 Bright Points
Program: Normal 320"x82", 1 side, Q75
Target: Quiet Sun
xcen=-38 ycen=-788
Instrument: SOTSP
HOP/JOP: 336
Description: Main Objective: To find the magnetic and chromospheric signatures of the onset of cycle 25. Scientific Justification: Small magnetic features and coronal bright points have been shown to indicate the bands of activity associated with the solar cycle. The precise location of these bands is important for predicting the timing of solar minimum and, more generally, the long-term variability of the Sun. request to SOT (Updated: 10-May-2018) ---------- brief instruction (general) ----------- ID: 0x1ce (Normal 320"x82") One full resolution, full width, half slit (512 px), normal map centered at longitude 0W and latitude 40N for the northern hemisphere (after correcting for the SOT offset). One full resolution, full width, half slit (512 px), normal map centered at longitude 0W and latitude 45S for the southern hemisphere (after correcting for the SOT offset). NOTE TO COs: Although tracking curves are preferred for these observations, if there are not enough available, then either or both maps should be run with fixed pointing.
