SOT: CORE: Polar Region Observation Campaign
2007-01-10T20:37:00 to 2007-01-10T21:58:30
Science Goal: CORE: Polar Region Observation Campaign
Program: Slot FOV G-band CaH Mgram 2x2
Target: N Pole
xcen=0 ycen=945
Instrument: SOT
HOP/JOP: 2
Description: SOT will continue the SOT, XRT, EIS time variation co-alignment study at the North pole from 11:05 UT to 14:19 UT. Pointing returns to disk center for the star tracker during which time a tuning test will be run from 14:23 UT to 16:10 UT. Pointing returns to the North Pole for continuation of the first coordinated study with Hinode/SOHO/TRACE. This campaign observation contains one SP full FOV normal map from 14:30 UT to ~ 19 UT and a Ca H/Shutterless IV 2x2 Full FoV from 15:00 UT to 20:37 UT. Then a SP deep mode maps 10 arcsec wide and high cadence G-band/Blue cont/Ca H/IV maps of full and narrow FOVs to ~22 UT. From 21:58 to 22:03 G-band/Ca H/Blue cont/Mag 4kx2k 2x2. Joint XRT, EIS, SOT, SOHO polar observations are requested, beginning on Tuesday, 2007/01/09. XRT proposes polar observations for six hours each day of the week, between usual synoptics at 16:00UT and 22:00UT. Request to SOT HOP Number 0002 G-band and Ca-H at high cadence full resolution with vector magnetograms. 4.8 x 4 seconds integration time needed in SP to increase the SNR a factor of 2 on the limb Time evolution of granular structures are ~ 1 min. 80""x120"" maps will take 4 hours in total 5 positions (North, South, East, West, disc center) with no active regions. West limb have been only once observed and East limb never !!! At least high resolution G-band maps (1x1) to identify magnetic features.
